Friday Favorites--Yippee!

Hi Dolls!

OMGeeeee!  It's finally Friday!!!  And wowza, was it not the longest week ever?!?  I think probably because this was the first 5 dayer I've had in a while between the holidays and my European vacay and well...because if you know me, you know that I go by the mantra to "work smarter, not harder".  But I'm super psyched to link up with Erika, Andrea and Narci for my first Friday Favorites of 2018.  So....let's get started y'all!

ONE
I love, love, love a good meme!  And my girlfriends and I send them all the time.  This is one I found that I find completely relatable---like 100%.  This is me sometimes.  And let's admit it...we've all been there.  Keep your damn lemons!

TWO
As a follow up to #1 and as a reminder to get myself in check, I wrote about the amazing Holly Butcher earlier in the week here
She was unbelievably humble in her last days and if you haven't heard her story yet, you should.

THREE
I am a sucker for IG shops y'all...and for t-shirts with cute and funny sayings on them so when I found Strong Confident You on Insta, I went gaga over their t's.  And I picked up a few...one being this beauty.  Because, well duh...shouldn't we all feel this way about ourselves!  You can also look at their shop here.

FOUR
Betty White!!!  Need I really say more?!?  I don't think so BUT this beauty turned 95 this week.  95 years old.  I can only hope I look as good as she does at that age.  I found this interview she did in which she gave the secret of life.  Y'all, for reals, if this is true I'm going to live until I'm 150.  Cheers to Tito's and Nathan's Hot Dogs!  Preach it SISTA!  And really, who is going to argue with Betty White?  You can read the article here

FIVE
I have found a love for all things Rae Dunn.  But it's kind of pricey.  However, I found this beauty on Amazon...and it was on sale so I scooped it up.  Plus, we all have a little crazy in us so I've decided to embrace it in 2018!  Also, I don't know where y'all live but this cold weather is doing a mess on my face.  The dryness is unreal and even after moisturizing when I go to apply my powder foundation, the skin just starts to flake.  Ewww, gross!

SIX
I haven't filled y'all in yet on what's been going on in my dating life and I CAN'T WAIT to share.  No worries, I'm still single, lol.  But because of my love of memes, these were two of my faves I found from the week.

SEVEN
And finally, I decided to bring in one of my most favorite humans in the world for my first Friday Favorites post.  My sweet bestie, Lizzy...aka June Bug, Boo Thang, Lizzy Boo, Elizabeth, Rose, Lovey Dove!  She's seriously the cutest thing ever and I love her more than I love my Tito's.  She's been so supportive of my getting back into blogging and is even going to do a guest blog post for me which I am super excited about.  We had a little GNO with wine and her work gal pals this week and I snapped this cute pic of her from our Tribe Family Dinner on Sunday while we were playing "What the Meme?" which if you haven't played it yet, it's kind of a dirtier version of Cards Against Humanity.

OK girls, that's all I have for today!  So fun being back and blogging with y'all!  Have a great weekend!

39 Things I've learned....

Hi Dolls-

Happy Thursday!  Is it just me or has this been a super long week?!?  I'm pretty excited as I'm going to my first Charlotte Blogger Event tonight.  Can't wait to share all the things that I learn tonight with y'all!

So, when I decided on starting a new blog, I looked back at some of the posts I had drafted on my old blog.  This is one of those posts that I had started but never finished right after I turned 39 last year.  Entering my last year in my 30's last May was a little nuts...and my friends joked about me having an early midlife crisis.  And probably rightfully so...I made lots of personal changes in 2017, maybe not buying a sports car like some men do, but I did upgrade my Jeep, lol

Anywhoodle, I am quickly coming up on the big 4-0!  Oh my!  May will be here before I know it and a new decade will start.  I have lots of fun things I am planning on doing to prepare for said big birthday but I also thought it would be fun to share some of the things that I've learned in the mere 39 years I've been on this Earth.

So sit back, relax and take a gander at 39 Things I've Learned in my 39 years.
  1. Don't care about what anyone thinks about you.  This was a hard one and still is.  We all struggle with this at some point I imagine (and if you never have BRAVO because you are one tough cookie).  But letting go of what people think about you is absolute freedom and allows you to live your life for you---not based on what you think others wants you to do.
  2. Love yourself--no matter what.  This one may seem a bit cliché since I made some personal choices to have cosmetic surgery BUT that was because I loved myself enough to do it for myself.  If you don't love you, you won't let anyone else love you either.
  3. Travel.  2017 was a great travel year but I have so much more that I want to do--especially international travel.  You can't take your money with it and I want to explore the word while I still have spunk to do so.
  4. Don't take friends and family for granted!  This is a big one.  Losing my parents at such an early age made me value this so much more earlier on but getting older made me realize that friendships and family time are a choice.  Don't blow it!  You don't want to wake up one day with regrets.
  5. Do what makes you happy.  If you want to drink that extra glass of wine (or in my case bottle of champagne), do it!  Take an extra bite of cake.  Swear if that's your thing.  Buy that little black dress that you have nowhere to wear it to---YET!  But if it makes you happy, do it!
  6. Take care of your body.  I didn't realize how important this was UNTIL I got older.  You only get one of these.  Use it wisely.
  7. Take care of your skin.  Ugh, what are those lines across my forehead.  Use sunscreen and lots of it (I remember tanning with baby oil as a teenager).  And moisturize for goodness sake.
  8. Laugh.  A Lot.  Enough said.
  9. Find yourself a good tribe.  I can't say enough about my friends.  I love them more than I can even say.  They are quintessential for my well being.
  10. Don't be afraid to make mistakes.  I'm getting better at this but for a long time I wouldn't try things for fear of failure.  Guess what?  You're going to fail at things.  And it's ok.  As long as you get up, dust yourself off and keep going.
  11. Learn how to say no.  I was a yes girl a lot in my younger years--big tie into #1.  But as I've gotten older, I've learned to say no.
  12. Do something you love.  I've had some rocky work periods in my professional career.  I've worked for some of the most asshole bosses who seriously made my life miserable.  But find something that you love and excel at it.  Am I running my wine/prosecco truck through neighborhoods yet (think ice cream truck for adults)?  No, but I love the company I work for, love my boss and have never been happier.
  13. Find love---or at least be open to it.  This has been a struggle my entire adult life.  I haven't found it yet but I'm closer than I've ever been to being open to it.
  14. Don't let your phone run your life.  I notice this now more than ever and I even do it myself but people don't communicate like they used to.  Put your phone down during dinner (after IG your food pic first of course--I know, doesn't go with what I just wrote down) but you get what I'm saying.
  15. Be present.  To further elaborate on #14--don't live your life through your phone screen.  Look up every once in a while.
  16. Listen.  This is probably one of my worst attributes.  And my friends will even tell you that.  I am not a great listener.  But I am getting better at this--or at least I'm trying.  You'll miss something (I know this from experience) if you are always thinking about what the next thing you are going to say is.
  17. Exercise.  Consistently.  I wish I would have done that more in my younger years but...well, lesson learned.
  18. Live within your means.  This was a hard one for me in my 20's--maybe even in college amongst all the free tshirt with credit card applications they bombard you with.  But being financially savvy is super important.
  19. Learn how to let go of grudges.  I'll be honest, I'm not the best "forgive and forget person".  I don't ever forget.  Sometimes I don't forgive.  So this is something I still work on constantly.  Sometimes people deserve a second chance--sometimes they don't.  It's for your better well being but dang...it's so hard.
  20. Think before you speak.  Gosh--how many times have I stuck my foot in my mouth because I had no filter?  How many times was I embarrassed because of something I said?  Countless.
  21. Know your audience.  I use this a lot in sales because it's so important to know who I'm pitching to and what their personality style is and what their needs are.  But this is something to be used in life.  Especially when you are amongst a group of friends where everyone is different.
  22. Volunteer/Sponsor/Give Back.  Do you realize how fortunate you are?  Do you have a roof over your head?  Did you park your car in a garage last night?  If so, you are in the top 5% of the world's richest population.  Crazy, right?
  23. Stand up for what you believe in.  I'm not a big politics person.  I don't get involved in heavy conversations because it's not my style but I will stand up for my beliefs if I'm asked.  I won't shy away or back down.
  24. Learn how to cook.  And do it well.  Not going to dwell on this one but I need some work here (hey, at least I acknowledge it).  I wish I would have paid more attention to my momma. Thank goodness I have Postmates!
  25. Learn to take constructive criticism well.  This wasn't an easy one.  And sometimes it's still not--especially when it comes from my friends.  But this is so important.  When people care about your well being, they should feel comfortable telling you things that could help you improve yourself and be a better person.  Be open to it.  Sometimes it will sting, but I promise--the sting goes away very quickly.
  26. Always have a first aid kit.  Don't you hate it when you can't find a Band-Aid.  Just so you know, if you have a flex spending account, you can find these online.  I have one for each of my bathrooms, my car and I've even given them as gifts.
  27. Smile.  A lot.  More.  Just do it.  It will make you feel better.
  28. Drink Water.  Listen, I hate water.  Like really loathe it.  I'd rather drink champagne all day--and sometimes I do.  But water is so good for you.  Start when you are younger so it becomes part of your routine.
  29. Learn how to parallel park.  This was on my bucket list a few years ago and I can do it now---not super well and only after a few tries.  But this is a good one to know--unless they have valet ;)  Totally a 'Clueless' movie reference.
  30. Be grateful!  Just that.  In itself.
  31. Always have a lighter, tape, Clorox, pens/pencils, batteries , Ibuprofen and gum stocked in your home.  Why?  No particular reason but aren't you always looking or in need of one or all of these things?
  32. Allow people to love you---faults and all.  I still struggle with this because how can people love me when they know how screwed up I am.  But they do...they still love you.  Let them.  Let them in.
  33. Establish and keep a relationship with God.  I'm just going to leave this here for now as I plan on writing more about this later.
  34. Don't color within the lines.  It's ok to be different.  It's ok to step outside of your comfort zone.  It's ok to be gray in a world of black and white.  I've got a whole post planned for this that I am super excited to share with y'all!  It's a doozy!
  35. Stop looking back.  What's happened in your past is exactly that...your past.  It's behind you.  Keep looking up and ahead--it's a much better place to be.
  36. Leave a legacy.   Holly Butcher's story is amazing and made me think long and hard about my legacy.  How do you want to be remembered?  Is it your style?  Is it what you did?  Is it how you loved?  Is it how you hated?  Is it how you mothered?  Is it how you volunteered?  Whatever "IT" is...leave it.
  37. Sing.  Out loud. At the top of your lungs.  In your car.  In your house.  In front of people.  At karaoke.  Wherever.  Why?  Because it makes you feel good.  That is all.
  38. And Dance.  Like non one is watching.  Like you have no cares.  And are completely shameless of the fact that you can't dance.  My girlfriends are going to laugh out loud at this because I always say "I don't dance" but get a little champagne in me and I'm the first one on the dance floor.
  39. Realize there is so much more to learn.  SO MUCH MORE!  I am ONLY going to be 40.  It's a big deal that I said "only".  I am not old (although some days I feel it).  I have so much more ahead of me.  Live your life!  Have fun!  Smile, laugh, turn heads!  Be You!  Love you!
OK Girls, that's all I have!  Hope y'all have a great rest of your day!

Are You Living Like Holly Butcher?

Hi Dolls-

So I'm taking a little detour from my regularly scheduled post that I was planning to put out today because of an amazing story I read yesterday.  I was going to apologize for writing something like this seeing as how it is only day 3 of my new blog BUT then I remembered that I was going to be honest and open and raw here and that's what I'm doing.

If you're on FB or any social media outlet you probably saw this.  A young, 27 year old, vibrant Australian woman who lost her fight with cancer on January 4th.  But before she bravely succumbed to this horrible disease, she wrote a beautiful letter that she asked her family to post after she was gone.  If you haven't read her letter, you can check it out here but I also copied it below as well.

Can you imagine being 27 and knowing that your life is ending?  That all the things that you thought you would do will never take place?  That you'll never see your family, your friends or your dog again?  That you'll never travel again?  Or drive a car?  Or smell the beach again?  Her letter is beautiful, gut wrenching and raw.  But it's also a letter that gets one thinking about their own life and if they are living it to the best of their ability.

I've read and reread Holly's letter several times.  I cried and was bothered by how I let things get to me (that shouldn't really matter) or didn't value how precious life was when there are so many others, just like Holly, who are living out their last days and don't have a chance to do the mundane things that we complain about probably on a daily basis...like traffic, or work, or having a bad hair day, or that I'm feeling fat, or having to exercise or that I have a pimple.  You get what I'm saying?

I'm not going to write some long post about changing my life and doing this or doing that because I should be living my life like that anyway.  It shouldn't take a sad story like this to put a mirror in our faces to make us realize that life is a gift.  What I will say is that I'm going to think about my choices and attitude every single day and that I am going to work on not taking life for granted, including the little things.  Gosh, how blessed we all are!  How blessed that we get to live an amazing (we may not feel it everyday but it is amazing) life!

So for you Holly, I will try to live my life the way you didn't get a chance to!  I pray for your family as they learn to cope with a new normal that is life without you.  Your spirit and legacy will live on forever.

HOLLY BUTCHER'S LETTER
A bit of life advice from Hol:
It’s a strange thing to realise and accept your mortality at 26 years young. It’s just one of those things you ignore. The days tick by and you just expect they will keep on coming; Until the unexpected happens. I always imagined myself growing old, wrinkled and grey- most likely caused by the beautiful family (lots of kiddies) I planned on building with the love of my life. I want that so bad it hurts.
That’s the thing about life; It is fragile, precious and unpredictable and each day is a gift, not a given right.
I’m 27 now. I don’t want to go. I love my life. I am happy.. I owe that to my loved ones. But the control is out of my hands.
I haven’t started this ‘note before I die’ so that death is feared - I like the fact that we are mostly ignorant to it’s inevitability.. Except when I want to talk about it and it is treated like a ‘taboo’ topic that will never happen to any of us.. That’s been a bit tough. I just want people to stop worrying so much about the small, meaningless stresses in life and try to remember that we all have the same fate after it all so do what you can to make your time feel worthy and great, minus the bullshit.
I have dropped lots of my thoughts below as I have had a lot of time to ponder life these last few months. Of course it’s the middle of the night when these random things pop in my head most!
Those times you are whinging about ridiculous things (something I have noticed so much these past few months), just think about someone who is really facing a problem. Be grateful for your minor issue and get over it. It’s okay to acknowledge that something is annoying but try not to carry on about it and negatively effect other people’s days.
Once you do that, get out there and take a freaking big breath of that fresh Aussie air deep in your lungs, look at how blue the sky is and how green the trees are; It is so beautiful. Think how lucky you are to be able to do just that - breathe.
You might have got caught in bad traffic today, or had a bad sleep because your beautiful babies kept you awake, or your hairdresser cut your hair too short. Your new fake nails might have got a chip, your boobs are too small, or you have cellulite on your arse and your belly is wobbling.
Let all that shit go.. I swear you will not be thinking of those things when it is your turn to go. It is all SO insignificant when you look at life as a whole. I’m watching my body waste away right before my eyes with nothing I can do about it and all I wish for now is that I could have just one more Birthday or Christmas with my family, or just one more day with my partner and dog. Just one more.
I hear people complaining about how terrible work is or about how hard it is to exercise - Be grateful you are physically able to. Work and exercise may seem like such trivial things ... until your body doesn’t allow you to do either of them.
I tried to live a healthy life, in fact, that was probably my major passion. Appreciate your good health and functioning body- even if it isn’t your ideal size. Look after it and embrace how amazing it is. Move it and nourish it with fresh food. Don’t obsess over it.
Remember there are more aspects to good health than the physical body.. work just as hard on finding your mental, emotional and spiritual happiness too. That way you might realise just how insignificant and unimportant having this stupidly portrayed perfect social media body really is.. While on this topic, delete any account that pops up on your news feeds that gives you any sense of feeling shit about yourself. Friend or not.. Be ruthless for your own well-being.
Be grateful for each day you don’t have pain and even the days where you are unwell with man flu, a sore back or a sprained ankle, accept it is shit but be thankful it isn’t life threatening and will go away.
Whinge less, people! .. And help each other more.
Give, give, give. It is true that you gain more happiness doing things for others than doing them for yourself. I wish I did this more. Since I have been sick, I have met the most incredibly giving and kind people and been the receiver of the most thoughtful and loving words and support from my family, friends and strangers; More than I could I ever give in return. I will never forget this and will be forever grateful to all of these people.
It is a weird thing having money to spend at the end.. when you’re dying. It’s not a time you go out and buy material things that you usually would, like a new dress. It makes you think how silly it is that we think it is worth spending so much money on new clothes and ‘things’ in our lives.
Buy your friend something kind instead of another dress, beauty product or jewellery for that next wedding. 1. No-one cares if you wear the same thing twice 2. It feels good. Take them out for a meal, or better yet, cook them a meal. Shout their coffee. Give/ buy them a plant, a massage or a candle and tell them you love them when you give it to them.
Value other people’s time. Don’t keep them waiting because you are shit at being on time. Get ready earlier if you are one of those people and appreciate that your friends want to share their time with you, not sit by themselves, waiting on a mate. You will gain respect too! Amen sister.
This year, our family agreed to do no presents and despite the tree looking rather sad and empty (I nearly cracked Christmas Eve!), it was so nice because people didn’t have the pressure of shopping and the effort went into writing a nice card for each other. Plus imagine my family trying to buy me a present knowing they would probably end up with it themselves.. strange! It might seem lame but those cards mean more to me than any impulse purchase could. Mind you, it was also easier to do in our house because we had no little kiddies there. Anyway, moral of the story- presents are not needed for a meaningful Christmas. Moving on.
Use your money on experiences.. Or at least don’t miss out on experiences because you spent all your money on material shit.
Put in the effort to do that day trip to the beach you keep putting off. Dip your feet in the water and dig your toes in the sand. Wet your face with salt water.
Get amongst nature.
Try just enjoying and being in moments rather than capturing them through the screen of your phone. Life isn’t meant to be lived through a screen nor is it about getting the perfect photo.. enjoy the bloody moment, people! Stop trying to capture it for everyone else.
Random rhetorical question. Are those several hours you spend doing your hair and make up each day or to go out for one night really worth it? I’ve never understood this about females 🤔.
Get up early sometimes and listen to the birds while you watch the beautiful colours the sun makes as it rises.
Listen to music.. really listen. Music is therapy. Old is best.
Cuddle your dog. Far out, I will miss that.
Talk to your friends. Put down your phone. Are they doing okay?
Travel if it’s your desire, don’t if it’s not.
Work to live, don’t live to work.
Seriously, do what makes your heart feel happy.
Eat the cake. Zero guilt.
Say no to things you really don’t want to do.
Don’t feel pressured to do what other people might think is a fulfilling life.. you might want a mediocre life and that is so okay.
Tell your loved ones you love them every time you get the chance and love them with everything you have.
Also, remember if something is making you miserable, you do have the power to change it - in work or love or whatever it may be. Have the guts to change. You don’t know how much time you’ve got on this earth so don’t waste it being miserable. I know that is said all the time but it couldn’t be more true.
Anyway, that’s just this one young gals life advice. Take it or leave it, I don’t mind!
Oh and one last thing, if you can, do a good deed for humanity (and myself) and start regularly donating blood. It will make you feel good with the added bonus of saving lives. I feel like it is something that is so overlooked considering every donation can save 3 lives! That is a massive impact each person can have and the process really is so simple.
Blood donation (more bags than I could keep up with counting) helped keep me alive for an extra year - a year I will be forever grateful that I got to spend it here on Earth with my family, friends and dog. A year I had some of the greatest times of my life.
..’Til we meet again.

Who Am I?

Hi Dolls-

First, let me thank you from the bottom of my heart of the kind blogger friend "welcome back" I felt yesterday!  The calls, text and private messages made this girl feel so mushy gushy!

I figured for just starting back on le blog I would start with a little fun post answering the age old question that every psychologist or therapist asks of their patients during their first visit "Who Am I?"  That's pretty tough, right?  But I'm going to try to break it down for some of my new readers who may stumble upon this here blog and as a refresher for some of my oldie but goodie blog reader friends.

Who Am I?
Well Dr. Freud, as I am feet up on a couch...  No seriously, this is actually a pretty easy question for me.  For once.  I am a 39 year old, Southern single gal living the best life that I can live.  Life has dealt me some not great cards over my years but isn't that the same case for most everyone else too?  You just have to decide how you deal with it.  Please don't get me wrong...I don't want to come off as a kumbaya, make lemonade, everything is great kind of person because I think that's BS.  I have my days where I complain about life not being fair and how I got the short end of the stick and you know what, that's ok.  But I have far more days where it's the complete opposite and I look at my life saying "hell yeah, I am awesome and this is a f*ing fantastic life".  Has it turned out the way I thought it would?  No.  But it's still great nonetheless.  Dating or the pursuit of love, whether I like it or not, does consume a lot of my thoughts---regardless if I'm active in it or not.  I am a Match.com user but take lots of breaks because I just can't believe the caliber of men I'm meeting (maybe it's me--I am the common denominator in this equation lol)  WAY more on this later I promise!

What Do I Do For A Living?

I'm a sales manager for a cleaning product company based out of Connecticut for their North American HQ and Solingen, Germany for their Global HQ.  I work from home and travel for my job.  The cities I visit most frequently are Chicago, Memphis and good ol' Ft. Wayne (Indiana if you're not familiar).  But I'm in different cities for shows all year round.  I work for an amazing company and have a fantastic boss.
This is from our HQ in Germany.

This is of our entire sales team (however I work on the small retail side which only consists of less than 10 folks).  And of course, I am the one standing out in the brown coat because well, duh!

And this is what I sell :)

This is one of my most favorite gal pals to work with (and yes, we are working in this pics with our afternoon cocktails overlooking Boston Harbor--it's called strategic planning).  This gal also has her own business making small batches of the most heavenly botanical products.  Her scrubs are amazing!  You can check out her website here.

Who Is My Family?
My sister...oh my sister.  Literally my most favorite human being in the world.  Stephanie is my older (she'll hate me for saying that, but it's true lol) and much nicer sister.  There's only 2 of us.  She has plenty of stories about me getting her in trouble when we were growing up and I can't deny not a single one of them.  But I say it's only because I wanted so very badly to be around her all the time and she just didn't want that at all---so I was a brat and yes, did things that reflected badly on her resulting in usually getting her butt switched or something of the sorts.  We weren't the greatest of friends growing up but when my parents passed away she took it upon herself to be the leader of our new much smaller family and that's that.  She is stronger than she believes she is, has a heart of gold and is just simply amazing.  Oh and she has a pretty awesome husband too!  She also has a blog that you can check out here.

Where Do I Live?
I just moved into the city of Charlotte, NC back in September.  This is my first time trying out urban living as it was something I have always wanted to do.  Before that I've always lived in the suburbs close to where I grew up (which is only about 30 minutes from where I'm at now).  I did have a brief stint in Salisbury, MD when I first went into sales but the majority of my life has been spent in the great state of NC.  Which I love.  Like really love.  There's no place else I would want to be...well, other than Charleston, which is still on my "places to live" list.

But here's my place: complete with rooftop pool, screening room, 24 hour concierge and amazing views.  Most of these pics are from the website because it is too cold for me to be venturing out trying to take good pics in 20 degree weather but a few are from my balcony that you have probably already seen from my IG (nc30grits).  My only regret is that I didn't take this leap sooner.

Who Are My Friends?
Boy oh boy, where do I even start?  I have the most amazing group of friends.  Ones that lift you up when you need them need or knock you down a peg even when you don't want them to.  I hope that you all have friends like that because if you don't, you should.  They all come from different walks of life--different backgrounds, different upbringings, different ages, some are mommas, some are not, some are going to be soon, some married, some divorced, some still single.  They may all be different may they are all strong and smart and amazing and holy cow, aren't they gorgeous?!?  But we all fit together somehow and it's absolutely beautiful!  I am so very blessed!

What Do I Like To Do For Fun?
It's funny that I even chose this as a question to answer because I LOATHE this question when asked by someone that I am getting to know on Match.com.  Because it's so weird...I mean, really for fun I like to take naps, eat bacon and lay around with my dog.  Not all the time but that's really what I like to do.  Sounds pretty exciting, right?  But for reals, I also enjoy drinking lots of champagne, Tito's vodka & beer but that may make me sound like a lush to some.  I hang out with my besties (ALOT) and, for the most part, would prefer being with them over meeting a guy (hence the reason why I'm probably still single).  Some may call that being too co-dependent (and some may really believe that if they knew what our relationships were really like--BTW, I'm ok with that because whatevs).

I love to travel and wish I would have done more of it when I was younger but there's no time like the present and I have a whole travel bucket list that I intend to fulfill.  Ireland, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Austria are just a few--who wants to go with?  I'm also working on a post of my most recent European vacation that I took back in December so standby.

I love eating.  I hate cooking (oh my, am I really Southern?) but I also have so many great restaurants and bars within walking distance so why bother wasting the effort of heating up a pot and pan.  And let us not forget Postmates which I'm wondering how I ever lived without them before?
Am I right or am I right girls?!?  Also, Cosby Show was one of my favorites growing up and I thought Olivia was the cutest thing ever.  Not a big fan of hers now but...

Well that was fun!  Come back tomorrow where I gush over the Golden Girls and why Dorothy is my spirit animal!

TBB Asks-January 2018

Hi Dolls!

Could it be that I'm writing two posts for my first day back on my new blog?!?  Well, I felt like I had to because it's an amazing link up with some fabulous blogger friends who I completely admire.  So here goes with my first link up with The Blended Blog.

1.  Resolutions of No Resolutions?
I hate the word resolution BUT I love the words goals and inspirations...so that's what I have for 2018.

2.  Love Snow or No Snow?
So here's my take on snow.  I love it!  But let me also explain that I love Southern snow...which means that you get it in the morning, get to enjoy it all day and then it's typically gone by the end of the day or the next afternoon.
This is a true story!!!!

3.  Name a New Place you want to go this year?
Italy.  Already working on the plans.

4.  Would you rather have a new hair cut or hair color?
Hair color fo sho!  I've been trying to let my hair grow for the last year and a half---mermaid hair is my goal meaning that it will cover my breasts.  Fun fact--I'm not a natural brunette.  My natural hair color is dirty blonde.  It just didn't seem to suit me so I've been coloring it dark for the past several years.  So in my case, brunettes definitely have more fun!

I also have an obsession with Steel Magnolias (and Dolly Parton for that matter).  So, speak it Truvy!

5.  Name one special thing you want to do for yourself this year?
To continue to be a healthy me.

6.  Least Favorite thing about January?
This current cold snap we are experiencing!  Oy Vey--I hate it!  If Winter was on Tinder, I would swipe left!  BTW, I am not on Tinder!

7.  Most Favorite Thing about January?
Working with a Clean Slate for the year.

8.  When do you take down your holiday decorations?
So, true story...I, for the first time in about 15 years, did not do any Christmas decorations.  Between moving and being in Europe, it just wasn't feasible this year.  But for the sake of the question, I typically put up Christmas decorations right after Halloween and take them down right before New Year's Eve.

9.  Do you diet in January?
I hate the word diet.  Like loathe it!  But I am continuously watching what I eat ALL THE TIME.

10.  What area of your home do you want to organize the most?
Fortunately for me, when I moved it was a serious downsize situation.  Going from about 2500 square feet to just shy of 1200 square feet involves a lot of determining what really needs to stay and what needs to go away.  Which means that everything in my new place is there for a purpose and for the most part I am pretty organized everywhere.

11.  Favorite Winter comfort food.
Soup, chili, stews...anything in a bowl that you eat with a spoon (that would also include Halotop ice cream).

12.  Favorite Guilty Pleasure.
Binge watching my favorite TV show Golden Girls.  OK, so I may get hated on for this but I am so happy the holidays are over and that Hallmark is no longer playing Christmas movies that all end up the same (you know what I mean?).  My reason for this is that during that time, they take Golden Girls off the rotation from 11pm-1am and that's just not cool.

Well that was loads of fun!  Thanks for letting me join in girls!
